THE SYNERGIST

The challenge:

The Synergist is a non-profit social venture, that believes the world’s most important and complex societal issues are best solved when they are addressed collectively.

This is achieved by bringing together organisations, institutions and people with different skill sets that don’t normally work together. The Synergist then creates the conditions for a higher level of teamwork and dynamic collaboration to take place, where the combined efforts of the team result in something greater than the sum of individual contributions.

Although The Synergist has been very successful with a variety of healthcare programs in recent years, the challenge was to turn the complex nature of what the organization does into a clear narrative and proposition based on its unique identity and excellence.

What transpired:

The unique strength of The Synergist is that it provides a non-competitive environment that facilitates the exchange of views and the cocreation process. The group’s excellence lies in the combination of hard skills and counter-intuitive soft skills akin to a form of diplomacy that give the group its capacity to lead from behind.

By providing the appropriate tools, processes and environment, creativity thrives, problem-solving becomes more efficient, and the collective energy and enthusiasm drive innovation and produce remarkable outcomes that surpass what any member could accomplish alone.

The result:

We helped The Synergist understand on a deeper level what it truly excels at, and to turn this into a clear narrative, positioning and communication strategy for the future. The unique culture and identity of the organization was crystallized in an identity book, a manifesto and a new campaign platform and tagline fully aligned with what lies at the heart of the organization. The catchphrase “No one can whistle a symphony” metaphorically shifts the attention from the dancers to the dance, from the players to the game, or from the musician to the symphony and captures the idea that team synergy represents the pinnacle of collaborative achievement, where the collective output exceeds what individual efforts could achieve.
